Tell me about yourself.

  • Avoid a generic answer. Give a quick rundown of your life, but keep it relevant to the specific job and company. You can also mention your hobbies, favorite shows, or anything that makes you stand out.
  • Example: “I’m a high school student passionate about [career field]. I am studying [subject] and want to learn more about it through this [internship/job]. I enjoy [hobby/sport ideally related to the job] in my free time. I’m excited about the opportunity to contribute my skills to your team.”

Why are you interested in this job?

  • Research the company and role. Show that you understand the company’s mission and job responsibilities. Connect your interests and skills to the job. Don’t just say you need a job.
  • Example: “I’ve been following your company’s work in [area] for a while, and I’m impressed by your commitment to [company value]. Your focus on [specific project] fits with my career goals.”

What are your strengths and weaknesses?

  • Be real. Choose strengths that are relevant to the job. Be honest about your weaknesses, but focus on how you’re working to improve them.
  • Example: “One of my strengths is my ability to [strength]. I’ve always been a quick learner and enjoy tackling new challenges. I’m also [weakness] and working on [effort] to strengthen that skill.” 

Tell me about a time you failed.

  • Everyone fails. The important thing is how you learn from it. Share a story about a time you didn’t succeed but also how you bounced back.

Why should we hire you?

  • Highlight your skills and experience and why you’re a perfect fit for the team. Be confident and enthusiastic, and show your genuine interest in the position and your belief in your ability to succeed.

Tell me about a time you had to work under pressure.

  • Be ambitious but realistic. Talk about your career goals and how this job can help you get there. Show how the job fits into your education or career path.
  • Example: “I hope to become a [position] in the [industry]. This job/internship will help me achieve that goal. I can’t wait to learn, grow, and contribute to the company’s success.”
